Helen has been at Oriel since it opened in 2004. As an Assistant Headteacher, she played a leading role in setting up this new secondary school with her role initially including data and assessment whilst leading a quarter of the school pastorally and also being Subject Leader for Science. Helen then became Deputy Headteacher with a lead focus on curriculum. Helen currently leads on the Pupil Premium alongside curriculum design, leading the school’s ITT partnership and staff recruitment amongst other varied responsibilities. Helen feels passionately about the experiences disadvantaged students have at school, and she leads Oriel's Pupil Premium strategy developing its bespoke and innovative approaches with a wide range of colleagues and external partners. Helen is a collaborative leader who has been praised by Ofsted during inspections. She has been a regular contributor to national and regional pupil premium conferences over the past 8 years gaining praise for her willingness to openly share ideas and materials with other school leaders.
